Terms of Use

These conditions govern every visit, search, and use of the website. Using any part of it confirms agreement with the terms below. A person who does not accept them must stop using the site.

NO FCRA USE. This privately operated website has no affiliation with a local, Illinois, or federal government body. Neither it nor its advertising partners provides a service for credit, employment, insurance, tenant, or other Fair Credit Reporting Act use. It is a reference for Champaign County and Illinois record resources, not a private investigation firm or consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

This is a private reference site with no government connection. It neither stores official criminal records nor retrieves records, performs official checks, or files papers for a visitor.

References identify the Champaign County Sheriff, Circuit Clerk, Illinois State Police Bureau of Identification, and Illinois State Police Sex Offender Registry, along with third-party research tools.

2. Rules for Using This Site

Site users must not:

  • Break any federal, state, or local law while using this site
  • Use information you find here to stalk, harass, or threaten anyone
  • Base hiring, housing, lending, or insurance decisions on content from this site
  • Try to break into our systems or gain access you are not supposed to have
  • Run bots, scrapers, or automated tools against our pages
  • Do anything that slows the site down or blocks other people from using it

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

Information from this site or a linked tool may not be used to stalk, harass, threaten, intimidate, or discriminate. Misuse can be criminal, especially when Illinois State Police Sex Offender Registry data is used against a listed person. Registry information serves public safety awareness and never authorizes vigilantism.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

We are not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA. We do not generate background checks, credit reports, or consumer reports of any kind. Neither we nor our advertising partners provide services built for screening job applicants, reviewing rental applications, calculating insurance rates, or judging creditworthiness. You agree not to use data from this site or any linked tool to:

  • Decide whether to hire or fire someone
  • Screen potential renters or housing applicants
  • Judge creditworthiness or set insurance premiums
  • Determine who qualifies for licenses, permits, or government programs
  • Do anything else that falls under FCRA rules

If an authorized purpose requires a background check, use the proper official channel or an FCRA-compliant screening company.

5. No Legal Advice

Content is not legal advice. General explanations of Champaign County records cannot determine how a charge, conviction, warrant, expungement, or sealing rule affects a person. Consult an Illinois-licensed attorney for legal advice.

6. No Warranties

All content and features are provided "as is," without a guarantee that:

  • The information here is accurate, complete, or current at any given time
  • The site will stay up and running without interruptions
  • Our pages are free of errors, bugs, or security holes
  • Results from our partner search tools will be thorough or accurate

Criminal records change all the time - charges are filed, dismissed, sealed, and expunged. We try to keep up, but gaps are unavoidable. Nothing on this site should be treated as an official statement from a court, sheriff, or government agency.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links may lead to sheriff, court, state agency, legal-aid, or outside search services. Those destinations operate independently. Their content, data handling, prices, availability, and terms are outside our control and responsibility.

8. Intellectual Property

Text, graphics, logos, and code belong to Champaign County Criminal History or its content partners. Copying, distribution, modification, and derivative use require prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for damages that come from using this site - including decisions made based on information found here or through any linked service.

10. Indemnification

You agree to hold us harmless from any claim, legal action, or demand that stems from how you used this site or from breaking these terms. That includes covering our legal fees and related costs.

11. Governing Law

Illinois law governs these terms. Any dispute tied to site use must be brought in a court located in Illinois.

12. Changes to These Terms

These terms may change. A revision becomes effective when the new text is posted here.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be restricted or ended at any time, with or without advance notice.

14. Severability

If one provision is held invalid or unenforceable, every other provision remains effective. The affected language is modified only as far as needed for enforcement.
