How to Check Criminal History in Rantoul
Start with RPD when the question concerns an officer's case report, crash, warning, citation, or parking record. General village FOIA goes through 333 South Tanner, so identify the police record rather than sending it to the general custodian by default.

Routine email is handled during business hours. METCAD nonemergency dispatch is 217-333-8911, but calling dispatch is not the same as filing a record request. State the case number when known, plus the involved person, date, time, nature, and location.
The Rantoul Police Department
RPD Records maintains case and crash reports, citations and warnings, and parking citations. These categories have different legal effects. An officer's warning or local parking citation does not automatically create a criminal court case. A police report is the agency narrative; if prosecutors file a charge, the Circuit Clerk creates a separate docket.
RPD provides online and printable request paths. Officer names differ on older official form versions, so rely on the live Records page before addressing a current employee by name. The stable facts are the police address, department email, phone, and the distinction between police FOIA at East Grove and general village FOIA at Tanner.
Note: The report logo and case number are better custodian clues than the incident address alone.
Rantoul's Police FOIA Fields
The web form collects requester identity, contact information, and address, then asks for a record type and detailed narrative. Delivery choices let the requester seek an electronic portal response, paper, inspection with copies, inspection only, or certification. The printable version adds fields for the involved person, time, place, nature, case number, and whether a version without date of birth is acceptable.

A narrow request is easier to locate and review. Attachments can supply an existing record face or other useful reference, but avoid needless private data. If a version without date of birth will meet the need, accepting that option may prevent delay identified on the PDF form.
Arrests and Bookings in Rantoul

Requesting Rantoul Police Video
Rantoul's form gives body-worn camera and in-car video their own record-type option. That detail matters because video is not necessarily included with a written police report. Specify the date, tight time range, location, responding unit or officer if known, and related RPD case number. A broad demand for all footage can take longer to locate and redact.
Illinois law can require withholding or redaction of protected people, private areas, juvenile or victim information, active investigative details, and other exempt content. The existence of a video selection does not promise that every minute is public. Ask for the releasable portion and select the preferred delivery method. If physical media is needed, Rantoul lists a $5 flash drive; Dropbox delivery is listed at no charge.
Preserve the distinction. A video, dispatch ticket, written RPD report, jail booking, and court exhibit are separate records with separate custodians.

An RPD warning, parking ticket, or retained case report does not by itself prove that a criminal case exists. Conversely, an online court miss can reflect restricted status, spelling, age, or an incident that was never charged.

Select certification only when an authenticated copy is needed. Certification adds the custodian's formal attestation but does not alter the report's content or turn an allegation into a conviction. Retain the request confirmation and any extension notice so the submission date and scope remain clear.
Where Rantoul Records End Up
RPD creates the local incident or arrest report. County corrections creates a booking if the person enters the jail. The State's Attorney decides whether to file a criminal charge, and the Circuit Clerk creates the case record.
